William's Interview
We interviewed William Martin from the blog crew.We asked him a few questions like...... why did you choose to be in this crew,do you like it,would you stay in this crew and why? His answers to those were... He chose this because he likes working with computers, he does like this crew because he works with his favorite things like technology, and computers. If he could chose to stay in this crew, he would chose to stay because his friends are in the crew and he likes working with computers.
Garden Status...
The A.M.S Community Garden is looking good. There's plants growing, we all have raised garden beds, our pathways are looking good, the weeds are gone, the wooly pockets are working better then expected, and we have ladybugs:). We hope you come out and see our wonderful A.M.S Community Garden!:)

AMS Community Garden Planting!!
Today, we went out into the garden and planted some seeds. Before we could start, Christian and Ryder had to level out the garden beds, Jodecy had to water them very little, Jaedyn and Rose got out the seeds, and Saihan labeled popsicle sticks. After they were done, we measured to plant the seeds. Once we were done picking and planting, we watered again. Hope you come out to see our plants grow!!

What the crews are doing!
This week, in the Environmental Science Class 2, each crew is doing something different.
The Window Garden Crew is watering the window garden and our outside garden, and weeding the garden pathways. The Plant Care Crew is redoing the planters. The Worm Crew is planning for a food collection for our worms today. The Garden Crew has to finish the display board for our garden. The Leftover Crew is finishing the filling up of beds and mixing soils.

Raised Garden Beds
In the A.M.S Community Garden, we are making raised garden beds also called garden boxes. They are great for growing small plots of veggies and flowers. These beds help the prevention of soil compaction, keeping pathway weeds from garden soil, providing good drainage, and they serve as a barrier to pests such as slugs and snails. Raised Garden Beds not only help gardeners plant earlier in the season, it also helps keep valuable garden soil from being eroded or washed away by heavy rains.
We hope you take up our advice and make raised garden beds in your own garden!!

Woolly School Garden
Here at the A.M.S Community Garden, we are in the process of hanging up Woolly Pockets. Last year in 2011, we raised 1,000 dollars thanks to the generous donations. Woolly Pockets save a lot of space in gardens because their only15x 24ft.Each bundle of pockets, each have a zone of different vegetables. For example Zone 8 the fall/winter design has: 2 Nasturtium's, 2 Marigold, 2 Green Onions, two Carrots, and Nasturtium's. These pockets can be stored indoor or outdoor! Not only do these pockets hang easily, they also have smart watering, automatic watering, and self watering. They also protect walls, have strong, healthy roots, and are 100% Eco-friendly! We love using Woolly School Garden Pockets and hope you do too!!

Papercrete
Yesterday morning, the Curry's came over and helped Environmental Science Class one and two make papercrete. We made it by getting shredded paper, then putting the paper into buckets and filling the bucket with water. We then stirred for at least ten minutes. Next we put in three bags of mortar mix, and stirred it until it was well blended. Then we poured it into sections of six and we let it dry over night. Now we have papercrete blocks. If you ever want to make papercrete blocks there's the steps on how to do it. We hope you have fun and enjoy making them!!!

Remodeling AMS Community Garden
The A.M.S Community Garden is remodeling for the new Spring Season. We are removing the fences and putting them farther away for more garden space. We are making new garden beds and working on our outdoor classroom. We are taking out old/dead plants and planting new ones. All this hard work and dedication will soon pay off when we have our beautiful and healthy garden!!
